General Orientation
Etiquette
Courtesy, humility and respect are the foundation of etiquette and are symbolized by the greeting (Rei). In Ju-Jutsu, etiquette is not just an external form, but an inner attitude, and finally the way to inner peace and balance.
History of Ju-Jutsu
India is regarded as the root of almost all Asian martial arts, from where they spread across Southeast Asia to China and Japan and assumed different characteristics.
The Jiu-Jitsu was introduced in Germany by Erich Rahn. Through his father, a respected merchant, Erich Rahn had contact with Japanese already in his early childhood. He learned jiu-jitsu from Mr. Higashi, who had impressed him in a show fight. In Berlin in 1906 he opened the first Jiu-Jitsu school in Germany.
